Things I Enjoyed In 2016 – Cinema

Happy new year readers of my little blog.  I still haven’t gotten into a blogging rhythm  and I fully intend to get on this in 2017. To start things off I thought I’d go through the films I saw at the cinema in 2016 and make up awards for them.

Favourite Film –  Captain America: Civil War

The cinematic behemoth that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done it again with another amazing superhero film.  This one is a little different since it pits hero vs hero.

Most Fun Film – Ghostbusters

The new Ghostbusters is not as good as the original 1984 film. However this does not mean it is a bad film at all.  It’s the film that put the biggest smile on my face.

Weirdest Film – Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is a seriously bizarre film,  there’s lots of weird stuff going on, yet somehow it all works. There’s some amazing effects that should probably be seen in 3D to be fully appreciated (I saw it in 2D). A great film and I look forward to seeing Doctor Strange in action again.

Star Wars is still awesome award –  Rogue One

A Star Wars film with little to no force related stuff sounds crazy but works surprisingly well.  The story of how the plans of the original Death Star are obtained is action packed and contains loads of great moments.

Better than the critics say award – Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad has a lot going for it despite what the reviews say.  Both Harvey Quick and Deadshot are both great characters and I look forward to seeing more of them in future films.  The action scenes are exciting.  The film does have its problems, it can be a bit muddled and the Joker is just bad.

Batman,  Superman & Wonder Women in the same film award – Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.

This is one confused film.  It rarely makes much sense and is way too dark.  However Ben Affeck is great as Bruce Wayne and Batman also seeing Bats,  Supes and WW fight together was just awesome.

Dumbass Superhero Film Award – Deadpool

Funny,  action packed,  moving,  stupid and brilliant are all words to describe the Deadwood film.
